Dr Jonathan Burdon was elected Chairman of the MIIAA in October 2006.  Dr Burdon is a Respiratory Physician, and was Director of the Department of Thoracic Medicine at St Vincent's Hospital from 1990 to 2000.  He has an active private practice in respiratory medicine.

Dr Burdon joined the Council of the Medical Defence Association of Victoria in 1997, and was elected as its President in 2001.  His particular interest has been the promotion of clinical risk management as a core part of medical practice.
